We want to acknowledge International Women’s Day and #EmbraceEquity.

Although the number of females representing the electrical industry remains low, women continue challenging stereotypes and striving for equality. It is no secret that working within the trade industry isn’t always easy – females often face resistance when breaking into such fields. Yet, these women are an inspiring reminder of what can be accomplished with grit and determination!

Progress has been made, and we are starting to see the results and benefits not only with more women on the tools but from increased numbers of female industry experts, improved government funding, and businesses and training organisations, with NECA Training & Apprenticeships leading the way with 15% of their apprentices being females.

International Women’s Day is essential for the industry to come together and acknowledge the achievements of all women in trades, including the electrical industry. We sometimes forget to recognise those in our industry working behind the scenes – in the office or supporting a partner.
