Online learning can have its challenges, especially if you are not prepared. But if you develop the skills needed to make the experience just as effective as face-to-face, you will find yourself better able to learn in a traditional environment and online. Here are some tips to help you get the most out of learning online.

1/ Set Daily Goals

Know what you need to accomplish in a day. Goals help you stay motivated and focused. They give you an endpoint.

2/ Created a dedicated Area

Learning is about recalling information, and having a dedicated study area helps condition your mind to subject matters. Make the area away from your bed or Lounge if you can, and have a separate area for breaks. Keep the site clean and tidy, as clutter can have a negative effect on your mind. The dedicated study area also ensures all your learning materials are easy to find.

3/ Do one thing at a time.

Focusing on one aspect of learning at a time is more effective than multitasking. Being bombarded with multiple streams of electronic information reduces your ability to pay attention. You will find it easier to complete tasks and assignments when you stay focused on one item at a time, and your productivity will be greater and more effortless.

4/ Have Reliable Internet access.

Sometimes the internet can be unreliable. Ensure you are across all the technical requirements, understand the software and hardware you need, and ask your course instructor if you are unsure before starting. It’s important to remember to save your work regularly. Best if you organise cloud storage for your work like Google Docs or Dropbox.

5/ Join the discussion.

When you are studying face-to-face, you have the opportunity to discuss aspects of your learning with your classmates. These discussions help with learning outcomes; unfortunately, learning online takes this aspect of the learning environment away; one way to help alleviate this is by messaging your teacher directly when you have questions.
