NECA College Information

Apprenticeship Qualifications offered

Apprenticeship courses currently offered by NECA Training include:

UEE30820   Certificate III in Electrotechnology – Electrician

UET30621   Certificate III in ESI – Distribution Overhead

UEE30821   Certificate III in ESI – Distribution Underground

ICT30519    Certificate III in Telecommunications Technology

These qualifications are funded through State and Territory Governments as Australian Apprenticeships.

For all NSW-based students, the Government funding covers all of the costs associated with the RTO’s training delivery and assessment of the qualification.

For ACT-based students, the Government funding covers the majority, but not all, of the costs.  The deficit is made up through course fees and other funding.  The course fees for ACT-based students are invoiced to their employer each semester.  The course fees (ie; the funding component not covered by the ACT Government) are detailed in the table below:

Delivery Formats

At NECA Training we offer the ‘traditional’ apprenticeship delivery format, ie; one day/week as well as ‘Block Release’ training

Traditional Delivery (one day/week)

For the first three stages of the apprenticeship, apprentices will be required to attend college one day each week.

In the fourth stage of the Apprenticeship, apprentices will be required to complete their final Unit of Competency ‘UEEEL0039- Design, install and verify compliance and functionality of general electrical installations’ also known as ‘Capstone’.  This is completed in a ‘block’ format involving 2 weeks full time attendance at College.

Block Release Delivery (2 weeks full time x 4 blocks/year)

We also offer training in a ‘block’ delivery pattern from our ACT college.  Apprentices are required to attend college full time for 2 weeks, 4 times a year.

Entry Requirement & LLN Assessment

In order to complete the above detailed Apprenticeship courses, students must have entered into a Contract of Training with an employer.

There is a short language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) Assessment required before enrolment.  The LLN assessment is a national requirement.  NECA Training uses the results of the assessment to identify if a student is likely to require additional support in order to successfully complete their Apprenticeship.

If additional support is required, NECA Training provides tutorials and other tailored support to all Apprentices on a weekly basis.  A sample quiz demonstrating the required LLN can be accessed HERE
